Facts
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) refused to give certain patent applications the benefit of their earlier foreign filing dates. The refusal was based on the failure of the patent applications to adequately disclose their subject matter in accordance with the U.S. patent statute. Four appeals came before the United States Court of Customs and Patent Appeals.
